limit on number of fields for list configuration

Is there a limit on the number of fields which can be included in a list?
I created a list with 6 fields which worked correctly
When I list many fields (up to 31) there is an error -
This page isn’t working
cgslist.info is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500

I can understand the need to limit a display but the bigger lists are intended for export to csv

Yes there could be a limitation by the database. Maybe you must create two or more lists with than only 20 fields or so.

I have a similar problem, although it seems limiting the number of fields (21 in this case) is not the problem.
When I run the list / report for all the members (8100), i get the same HTTP ERROR 500 error. We also require the list for CSV export purposes.

Running the same (21 fields) list for less members (2800), it goes through no problem. Any advice on how to resolve this?
