SMTP connection failed

Hello,
Recently I installed Admidio (initially 2.4.10 now 2.4.12) and I like it a lot
I am testing the e-mail function now, unfortunately with no success, I constantly get the message SMTP connection failed.
After testing with several different options the message remains.
The only difference I can detect is the SMTP connection security.
The options Admidio offers are No – SSL – TLS
The providers I tested with require all STARTTLS, could that be the problem, and more important: how can that be solved?

I had the same error-messages.

Try the option "PHP Mail ()" instead of "SMTP".

That was the solution in my problems. I had the same error-messages.

I don ́t know why I didn ́t try that before, but now it works
