Restore backup

I have a backup of a previous Admidio database which I wish to restore to a new database and on a different website. How can I do this, please?

If your webhoster give you access to PhpMyAdmin. There you have the menu entry "Import" and you can select the backup file from Admidio.

Admidio itself could not import the backup.

I can use php my admin and have restored the file using that, but (presumably) because the backup references a different url and database name, it does not work. I am still unable to restore the backup and for it to work on the new installation of admidio. I cannot use the original installation because the contract for that host has been terminated.

Did you also change the settings in the file "config.php" in the folder "adm_my_files"?
Enter the correct values for host, database name, user name, etc. in this file

Are the details in config.php those of the new installation or those of the restored backup. If the latter, where can I find them?

This should be the data of your new system/ database.

I have checked all this. The php file is correct, but Admidio goes to a different log-in page which will not accept my administrator user name and password. I'm clearly doing something wrong here, but I would appreciate any advice you might be able to give me.

Ok, the system goes to your configured default page.

You can go to the following page https://www.your-domain.xy/admidio/adm_ ... /index.php and than login. After login Admidio will go to your configured default page again, now enter that url again.

You can change the default pages within the preferences in the common area.

1 My domain is not https// but http - does this make any difference?

2 You give the link as https://www.your-domain.xy/admidio/adm... /index.php. What do I do about the adm... bit?

I have, at last managed to restore the database, and when I log into Admidio I get a white page which gives me all the functionality of the site (with the exception of "Preferences" - which is not available. All the data from the database seems to be in order, but the normal presentation of Admidio (the formatted pages) doesn't seem to be available. How can the basically white page be changed to the standard formatted presentation?

Hmm, do you had a custom theme?

Do you have the folder adm_themes/simple ?

Could you give me a link to your page, so that I can have a view to your current layout?

I have just checked the files in admidio3317 and the only theme that is there is "modern"

Ok, you have done an update from version 3.

Therefore you should check https://www.admidio.org/dokuwiki/doku.p ... _version_4 and here in step 5 we recommend the update of the adm_themes folder.

Within your installation there is no version 4 compatible theme.
